The counterpart to the Oedipus complex is aptly called the Electra complex. Women have a passive masochistic sexuality (so the feminist Helen Deutsch). They envy a man’s penis (only in the age between 3 till 6), that is why they develop an antagonist feeling towards their mother. Father has got what girl wants but mother wants father…so… and so on.. if you read through some articles you’ll see how tough psychology truly is (then imagine only for a short moment, what they believe to be true is real, then what would this mean for how we see our children (are they sexual antagonists then?) – and is this about a soul or simply the way human instinct works?
