Suddenly the idea of living in a water mill right by the Stour doesn’t appear such an appealing reality. The MET office (by the way, it’s up for sale for 500 million pound; so is Eurostar for a few billion) forecasts severe flooding for particularly Sandwich by one in the morning. It doesn’t frighten me the slightest, on this island you are never safe, no place further than 72 miles away from the sea, but it excited me seeing Sandwich on local TV, dog walkers venting their fear and frustration.
